And what's more -- here's the trailer!

Woah -- this is going to be good!

Here's more: Jack's back: new Torchwood season unveiled ...from which the following is the quoteworth quote in, uh, this, um, context: "It wouldn't be Torchwood if people (and aliens) weren't having sex all over the place, all the time. Captain Jack finally has to face the consequences of having random relations with random people when his daughter turns up. Of course, that won't stop him from getting it on with the adorable besuited Ianto."

Ohhhhh, yes! And, while we're here --

Christian Bale: rude, yes, but -- right or wrong?

Further to the "Bale Out" stories yesterday ... got a good one for you here. Christain Bale must be wondering where it's all going to end!

Now, Steve Martin's gotten hold of it, and -- well, see this for yourself! You're not going to hear the F word at all, but good golly, the guy doing the beep noises must've drawn overtime pay on this one:

Very kewl, that!

Turns out, CB said the F word 35 times in his four minute audio romp. Yep -- somebody with way too much time on ehis hands actually sat down and counted them. CB himself doesn't see to have made a response (yet), but this is interesting: Web goes psycho over Christian Bale going psycho ... it's interesting because not only does it show how everyone in earshot or web-shot has been chewing large chunks out of CB, but there's also at least one pro voice in Hollywood racing to his defence:

"I know the guy who pissed him off"

Butch Kaplan has worked as a Hollywood producer for over twenty years. His most recent films are "Babylon A.D.", "The Assassination of Richard Nixon" and "The Patriot".

This was nothing that we haven't seen before, and in this case, the actor was completely right, and I'm not surprised to hear what happened. He's what we call in the industry a 'tweeker'. It's people who are very insecure about what they're doing that they constantly need to 'tweek' things.

A lot of actors have a hard time getting into the place of the character. You're trying to make it real, you're having a really deep moment, and then there's this guy, tweeking the lights. It's as if he's saying 'what I'm doing is more important than what you're doing - it's all about the lighting'. What Bale said was rude, but what Hurlbut did was so disrespectful. And the funny thing about this, is that Bale was more right than 95% of actors who pull this stuff. Not only actors, but producers, directors. Sometimes they even get into punch-ups, and most of the time they at least storm off set and refuse to come out of their trailer. The people who act up the most actually have the most power; a little tantrum earns you respect here.

However in this case it wasn't a power trip, it was a true explosion of frustration. A case of 'I'm trying to do my job and you're totally screwing me over'."

So there you go -- the jury will now retire to deliberate the evidence!

Nice one, Sean!

Here's a quotable quote -- one to remember (track it down here; http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25002484-5006023,00.html) ...

Sean Penn was named Best Actor for his role in ‘Milk’ - which tells the story of Harvey Milk, California's first openly gay elected official - and took the opportunity to talk about how important the movie is to him.

He said: “As actors, we don't play gay/straight, we play human beings. This is a story about equal rights for all human beings.”

Nicely said ... AG stands up and applauds.

And while we're here, has anyone else been around for long enough to remember...

There is something to be said for having been around for a while ...!

Jennifer Aniston: how dizzy is this?!

How dizzy is this: some interviewer just has to ask Jennifer Aniston -- who is one of the world's highest-profile and highest-paid celebs!!! -- if she would turn to INTERNET DATING to get a date, after breaking up with Brad back in '05.

That's like asking The Queen for her email address. Like writing a note to Bruce Springsteen, inviting him to go bowling with you, and then being surprised when he doesn't show.

Good grief! Like I said -- how dizzy is this question?! Well....

I guess it's about as dizzy as Jennifer's answer. Here's the whole thing, from SFGate Daily Dish:

Jennifer Aniston has vowed never to turn to Internet dating, no matter how dire her love life becomes.

Aniston star split from husband Brad Pitt in 2005 and is currently dating rocker John Mayer.
But Aniston is adamant that she will always be a fan of face-to-face meetings and will never look to the Web to find herself a man.

In a joint interview with her "He's Just Not That Into You" co-star Drew Barrymore, she says, "No, no, no. The Internet freaks me out. The Internet warps reality. If you're an Internet person, real life will fall short of what you have been privy to online -- sexually, emotionally. It's so unreal and gives you this sense of order where there isn't any.

So, you start with an incredibly stupid question ... and it reveals a kind of Internet phobia. It's not the preceding few lines of type that will hook you on SFGate's page, it's the following page of comments!! Get over there now, and see: Aniston Slams Internet Dating. The story only just started to run today, so the comments are just getting rolling -- and it's a hoot!

Somewhere along the line, ONE of these kiddies grew up ... boy, did he grow up! And if Jen is as phobic about technology as it seems, no wonder they went their separate ways ... cuz you have to live with technology these days. It's life: be in it.

Adrian Paul! Does anyone speak Hungarian?!

One of my favorite shows in the 1990s was Highlander, with Adrian Paul as Duncan McLeod. I'd loved the Highlander movies, earlier (well ... maybe not #2...), and the TV series was a blast.

While rearranging the video shelves, I stumbled over the VHS tapes (why in the world isn't Highlander available on DVD? For the same reason you can't get Kevin Sorbo's Hercules, I suppose...) and I thought, "What in the heck happened to Adrian Paul?"

A quick search of Google News shows that Adrial Paul has shown up in the press very recently. In fact, he was featured in a news story a couple of days ago ... but although I'll give you the link right here, it won't do you much good to follow it unless you speak Magyar -- Hungarian!

Anyone out there speak Hungarian?! Sheesh. You wait YEARS to see some mention of Adrian Paul in the news, and when it finally happens, you can't read it. Help?! Someone?!

And while we're here, how about a couple of photos? Well ... why not!

For your further browsing pleasure, check out Adrian Paul's filmography at IMDb ... you'll be amazed. He didn't "pack it in and get a fish shop" after all! I guess we just don't get his new work downunder. More's the pity.

Christian Bale: Open mouth, insert foot. Uh ... both feet.

You have to admit, for several minutes on the set of Terminator: Salvation, Christian Bale only opened his mouth to change feet.

As tirades go, it's a doozey. In case you haven't heart it ... well, be aware you're going to hear the F word ... oooooh, a lot. Seems old CB only knows one curse word, so as well as working on his people skills, he also needs to learn how to cuss properly! One word gets ... repetitive after a wile. Anyway --

You've been forewarned, right? So here goes:

Naturally, the Internet being the Internet, it wasn't long before it was uploaded and everybody in the world had heard it. By the time I listened in (and laughed my head off) it'd already been downloaded 700,000 times. I was #700,001.

Now it gets better. Some folks are really, I mean really creative. There's this one previously unknown music producer who works under the trade name of DJ Revolucion (probably because man's real name is Lucian Piane, which sounds like a librarian in hornrimmed eyeglasse). I say previously unknown, because this guy is probably the best-known music producer in the world, 24 hours later ... after he remixed the four-minute tirade into a rap-crap dance track.

Not only that, but more people are getting more creative:

I'll tell you what, you'd get a real workout, dancing to that.

Want more? There's more. You're not going to get a workout with this one -- but after the previous clip, you're probably sweating bullets and chugging Gatorade anyway, so -- take care not to inhale the Gatorade as you listen to ...

The CHIPMUNK REMIX of Christian's tirade. Seriously. Get this:

Oh, boy.

It's not that we don't appreciate the man's skills as an actor. As an actor, he's FANTASTIC. He just needs to work on his people skills ... and his cussing skills, come to think of it.

...enjoy!

Update on this: Steve Martin geta a-hold of the routine, and...! http://ariciasalbum.blogspot.com/2009/02/christian-bale-rude-yes-but-right-or.html

"Australia" rakes in the big bucks after all

You've probably heard that the recent movie Australia was Hugh Jackman's and Nicole Kidman's all-time flop. Right? The pundits could have spoken way too soon!

Here's a choice quote from the feature article on The Australian:

"Luhrmann's romantic epic starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman has been pilloried since its November premiere, with Kidman particularly enduring vituperative reviews from columnists and commentators for what is a solid performance.

Yet despite the slings and arrows, Australia is set to become the second highest grossing Australian film in history (in unadjusted figures) in this country, second to Crocodile Dundee, and the fifth highest grossing Australian film worldwide (behind Happy Feet, Crocodile Dundee I and II and Babe).

"If the industry sees this as a failure, send us more failures," says Peter Howard, who runs cinemas in the NSW towns of Taree and Tuncurry.
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25004481-15803,00.html

Read the whole thing -- go on! Turns out, the movie did poorly in North America, and frankly there's no surprise there: there's no Americans in it, and American audiences are so focused on American actors and accents, this alone would do in the movie.

(D'you know, whe Mad Max was released over there, they overdubbed Mel Gibson ... with an American voice speaking US slang! He was an Aussie at the time, if you remember. 21 years old. And still sane. I know about the Mad Max soundtrack for a fact. I've seen it -- or do I meant heard it?)

Anyway -- down here in Aus, Australia still screening in the rural communities, and doing, uh, quite nicely. The problem is that if a movie "fails" in the continental USA, it's said to be a failure per se ... which (like the old song sez) ain't necessarily so.

Cool news, this!
